The Wastrel and the Wallflower by Eliana Piers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Loved this story! Such a cute quick read and you get kites flying!
Eliana Piers’ “The Wastrel and the Wallflower” is an outstanding historical romance that swept me away to the glittering ballrooms and clandestine affairs of Regency London. Set against a backdrop of societal rules and hidden desires, this novelette weaves a spellbinding tale of love, secrets, and redemption.
Lady Giselle, a plain, ever-predictable wallflower, has resigned herself to spinsterhood. She crosses her fingers in hopes that men will simply pass her by, just as they always have. But when she spots a cheerful man cloud watching—documenting, to be precise—she doesn’t expect him to keep staring until he lands himself in a pond. Enter Felix Ashbourne, one of the Ashbourne brothers, who is the happy-go-lucky, always smiling face. Lately, however, he’s struggling with an unusual sense of ennui. When he meets Giselle, he sees love immediately. But will she? Can Felix rein in his feelings and not scare away the most beautiful, most intelligent woman he’s ever met?
This novelette is part of the steamy regency romance series, The Ashbourne Legacy, which follows the seven mislabeled brothers of Snow White. If you enjoy sweet and spicy reads with witty banter and lovable characters, “The Wastrel and the Wallflower” is a delightful addition.
