The Spy and the Spinster by Eliana Piers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Loved this quick read! Giles and Hali are super cute and loved the steam between them!
Eliana Piers’ “The Spy and the Spinster” is an outstanding historical romance that swept me away to the glittering ballrooms and clandestine affairs of Regency London. Set against a backdrop of societal rules and hidden desires, this novelette weaves a spellbinding tale of love, secrets, and redemption.
Lady Hali has had enough of high society men attempting to trap her into marriage for her fortune. As the sister of a duke, she can’t trust any of them—they’re all after her money. Resigned to spinsterhood, she accepts her fate.
Enter Lord Giles, the youngest of seven brothers in the Ashbourne family. When fate repeatedly brings Hali and Giles together, he figures there’s no harm in allowing one kiss to happen. Perhaps it’s his turn to consider marriage. But he respects Hali’s vow of independence and decides to tell her how he feels.
Giles, torn by guilt for overstepping his role as protector, spies on Hali. Will she allow her heart to trust a man enough for a love match?
This novelette is part of the steamy regency romance series, The Ashbourne Legacy, which follows the seven mislabeled brothers of Snow White. If you enjoy sweet and spicy reads with witty banter and lovable characters, “The Spy and the Spinster” is a delightful addition.
